Sustainability is a core value for all of us at Flow. We offer these brood boxes to those who also believe that it's better to make good use of our natural resources and are prepared to tinker a little—waste not, want knot!
Due to the nature of this second-grade timber, it is possible you may encounter some imperfections such as:
- Small cracks or dents, minor warping, knots in the timber
- Handle styles may differ on each side of box
- Finger joints may show some variation.
Made in the US from durable, sustainably sourced North American Western Red Cedar, these Bee Grade Brood Boxes are available in 8 or 10 frame Langstroth deep sizing. They can be used for brood, or as an additional conventional honey super and are sized to be compatible with 8 or 10 frame Langstroth hives or the Flow Hive Classic 6 or 7.
We only have a limited quantity, so get in quickly to forage for a bargain – use the code: BROOD20
TIMBER - WASTE NOT, WANT KNOT
The timber components of this hive are precision laser-cut and crafted from sustainably sourced Western Red Cedar, created from timber panels not utilized in our premium stock.
Though the timber components for this hive are classified as sound tight knot (bee grade), your hive will be fully functional and the gabled roof and Flow Frames included are still first grade. Please see our FAQ for more information on our natural timber characteristics.
The patented Flow Frame technology allows you to tap honey directly from your hive. Made in Australia from durable, highest quality, food-grade, BPA and BPS-free plastic – Flow Frames have taken the beekeeping world by storm.
Western Red Cedar is a highly durable and naturally weatherproof timber – it’s longevity and lustre can be increased by applying a coat or two of timber sealant.
Beekeeping is a labour of love. As with all animal husbandry, it’s a pastime which requires knowledge, skill and dedication and which carries with it inherent risks.
